Maserati Horsepower Guide
One of the major reasons why people buy a Maserati is that they’re built for performance in a way that their competitors simply aren’t. They’re equipped with performance suspension, big brakes, and grippy tires, but the most important factor is horsepower. Maserati is big on offering huge amounts of horsepower, and Maserati Akron has put together this guide to illustrate just how much of a horsepower advantage you get with a Maserati.
Maserati Grecale Horsepower
Max Horsepower – 523
Max Torque – 457 lb-ft
Max Top Speed – 177 mph
The compact SUV segment might seem really competitive at first, but that isn’t a problem for the Maserati Grecale the way it is for other compact SUVs. That’s because competitors don’t offer the same kind of power as the Grecale, even those competitors built for performance, like the Porsche Macan. The Gracale is available with two different engines in three different performance levels. The first is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces either 296 or 325 horsepower. For those who want more power, a lot more, there is the 3.0-liter V6 in the Grecale Trofeo, which puts out 523 horsepower. All versions of the Grecale are AWD. Looking at the competition, the difference is clear, and especially dramatic when you consider that every one of these vehicles is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.

Maserati Ghibli Horsepower
Max Horsepower – 572
Max Torque – 538 lb-ft
Max Top Speed – 203 mph
Another serious standout in its segment, the Ghibli isn’t just better-looking than any of its competitors, it offers a lot of horsepower. Where other sedans in this segment offer a four-cylinder for base models, the Ghibli offers a V6. In base form, this 3.0-liter V6 produces 345 horsepower. Option up to the Modena trim and you’ll have 424 horsepower. The top Trofeo trim replaces the V6 with a 3.8-liter V8 that makes 572 horsepower. AWD is available on the Modena trim, while all other versions are RWD, in classic sport sedan fashion. Competitors with V6 engines, like the Audi A7, can offer decent power, but it’s worth mentioning that it’s less horsepower, and there are no other, more powerful engine options available on the A7.

Maserati Levante Horsepower
Max Horsepower – 572
Max Torque – 538 lb-ft
Max Top Speed – 187 mph
The Levante is an SUV with real presence, a beautifully sculpted and massively powerful machine with a luxurious interior. Capable of the kind of performance that you might not have known an SUV was capable of. The base GT trim comes with a 3.0-liter V6 that produces 345 horsepower. The Modena bumps the power from that V6 up to 424 horsepower. Move up to the Modena S and the engine grows to a 3.8-liter V8 that produces 523 horsepower. Lastly, the top Trofeo trim comes in at 572 from its V8 engine. All of these come with standard AWD. As you can see, there are a number of competitors, mostly also using 3.0-liter six-cylinder engines, but none of them quite measure up, especially not across all three categories.

Maserati Quattroporte Horsepower
Max Horsepower – 572
Max Torque – 538 lb-ft
Max Top Speed – 203 mph
No matter what other manufacturers might claim, the Quattroporte is the gold standard of sport sedans. Even if you can somehow ignore the achingly good looks, the Quattroporte also comes with more power than those sedans that try to compete with it. The Quattroporte comes with the choice of a V6 or V8, with the base GT trim producing 345 horsepower. With the Modena trim you get both the option of AWD and a more powerful version of the V6 that produces 424 horsepower. Moving up to the Trofeo gets you the 3.8-liter V8 and 572 horsepower, as well as a top speed over 200. Prices in the segment are a bit all over the place, so we’ve gone with top trims and optional upgraded engines for all of the cars in this comparison, because those were closer in price.

Maserati GranTurismo Horsepower
Max Horsepower – 751
Max Torque – 995 lb-ft
Max Top Speed – 203 mph
The name says it all with the Maserati GranTurismo, a grand tourer that offers up some serious power. A powerful drivetrain, room for luggage, and comfortable seats are the winning combination that Maserati continues with this latest generation of GranTurismo. Three power levels are offered, with the entry-level Modena offering a V6 producing 483 horsepower. Option up to the also V6-powered Trofeo and you get 542 horsepower. But it is the Folgore that sits at the top of the range, with an all-electric drivetrain that makes 751 horsepower. The GranTurismo’s competitors are all very expensive, so we’re using the Folgore for the comparison. This is especially apt in the case of the Rolls-Royce Spectre, which is also an all-electric grand tourer.

Maserati MC20 Horsepower
Max Horsepower – 621
Max Torque – 538 lb-ft
Max Top Speed – 202 mph
Maserati calls the MC20 a super sports car, more than a sports car, but not a supercar. Maserati is raising the bar for this with the MC20, which doesn’t just offer more power, but also brings with it a big dose of exotic styling that you simply won’t find in the MC20’s mostly German competitors. There is only one engine option, Maserati’s Nettuno V6, which uses F1-derived technology to produce 621 horsepower. This is a lot for this segment, more than even the big competitor from Porsche, the 911 Turbo. Some competitors can rival the MC20 in one area, torque or top speed, but these are still seriously lacking in another area. Only the MC20 has all three, and it’s by far the best looking as well.
